From diversity lessons during Advisory class or designing doors for the Winter Holiday depicting various world religions, celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "dream" is not a one day or one month event at GMS. For example, earlier in the second quarter, students in Ms. Wilson's 7th grade ELA class analyzed Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. "I think it is important for students to find out from research that Dr. King had given versions of this speech prior to the march on Washington," said Ms. Wilson. "His adviser's even told him that his speech had become a cliche, but Dr. King went against their advice and I want our students know the history around the words." We do not tolerate our differences, we appreciate our differences at GMS every day of the year.
