Parents/Guardians,

On Friday, you should have received an email from Dr. Causey regarding student learning. If not, please see the attachment. Beginning this week, your child will hear from their teachers. In order to do so, students will need to login to their Office 365 accounts and check their email. GMS teachers will be using the Office 365 application referred to as “Teams”. This will allow our teachers to send videos, send assignments and hold virtual meetings through Skype. The login criteria for Office 365 is not what students use to login to PowerSchool with. They will use their “5-1-5” (first five letters of their first name, middle initial, first five letters of their last name) as their username and most students use their lunch number for their password. Some students decided to not use their lunch number and choose to set their password to something they wanted. In the event the student needs to reset their password, you will need to email [email protected].  If you do not have internet access at home, hot spots are set up at all high schools and should be accessible while in the parking lot (see Dr. Causey’s parent letter).

If your child is struggling with everything that is going on, please know that is normal. I believe we are all struggling to wrap our heads around this unique time in our country. Often, our students will open up to us about how they are feeling. Please let them know they can always email our school counselor [email protected] or myself [email protected] to talk. 

I know you might not believe it when I say that we have missed your kids. Many of our faculty & staff spend more time with your kids than we do our own kids. We truly love them and miss the daily interaction with them.
